The Big Secret // Beauty Buys

Hello everyone!

Another week gone by that I've been slacking in the blogging department, but what else is new? I figure that this is a hobby, so if some time goes by that I can't spare a moment to blog, then that will be okay.

I have returned to the blogosphere today because I am dying to tell you about a miracle hair product I have uncovered. For years I have been struggle with hair that becomes greasy very easily, and a scalp that itches when you apply almost any product. I have bought many a clinical shampoo, been checked for head lice multiple times, the lot. But I just couldn't seem to find a product that worked! Of course I must have looked crazy, taking a scratch at my head when I thought no one was looking, and it can become a pain when you have to wash your hair every day. Until about a week ago. That was when it hit me.

*drumroll please?!*

KIDS' shampoo! When you think about it, it makes sense, doesn't it? Kids' shampoo doesn't contain as many of the nasty additives, is soft on your hair, and usually comes as 2-in-1 with conditioner. Not only that, but it smells wonderful to boot. I swear, I would go wash my hair again right now just to smell it. It left my hair feeling soft, no itchies on my scalp, and I didn't have to condition, so no greasy hair! The new kind also does not contain any parabens, which is A+ in my books.

I do tend to have some knotty hair sometimes, but no matter: I've found the solution for that too.

This stuff works miracles, and the two products combined leave your hair feeling and smelling fantastic.

You may think I'm crazy, but I have to tell you, this duo really works. If you're looking for something that won't weigh your hair down and is easy on the chemicals, go out and buy this now! At $9 for the two combined, it's a steal of a deal.

Until next time!

Excitement Abounds

Hey all,
Welcome back!

Tonight I just wanted to do a quick post about something I gleefully snatched up off the shelf this afternoon.

(I forgot my camera at work, so a phone photo will have to do).

Bioderma micellaire solution (or micellaire water, whatever strikes your fancy) is something that several UK beauty bloggers have been raving about for quite some time now. Knowing that this is a product common in France, it never occurred to me that I might find it here in Canada. Well, well, well. Was I ever surprised and excited when I found this pretty bottle perched upon the shelf at Shoppers Drug Mart!

Now, you may have guessed that this cost a pretty penny. Being an imported product, it doesn't run cheap. At $22 for this small bottle, I probably won't repurchase it no matter how amazing it is simply due to the price. However, prices are usually jacked up at Shoppers, so you may be able to find it for less at somewhere like Jean Coutu, a French pharmacy.

As soon as I got home, I put on some dark eye makeup to test it out. When I say "makeup", I really mean that I went for the Miranda Sings slap-it-on look.

But no matter. After holding a soaked cotton pad on my eye for about 30 seconds, all of my makeup (including waterproof mascara) came off with one swipe. Little spots needed to be swiped again, but you catch my drift. It's a miracle worker! No rubbing necessary, the product does all the work to remove your makeup. I love it already!

Have you tried Bioderma? If so, where did you get it? Is there a cheaper way to obtain it in North America that I was unaware of? Also, what is your preferred makeup remover? Let me know in le comments!

Until next time,

Twerkin' it Out

Hi! My name is Olivia, and I am self conscious.

Now, I know I just did a post about body confidence (and by 'just' I mean a month ago... oops). But that is not the self conscious I am talking about. Have you ever taken what you thought to be a really great picture, only to find out that you actually looked like an alpaca on shaving day? This is how I feel whenever I try to make a Youtube video.

For the last 8 months or so, I have aspired to have my own channel, with lots of funny/inspiring/thoughtful videos. I have a whole book full of video plans. But, to my chagrin, every time I sit down to record such a thing, I end up trashing the whole project because I am not comfortable with the way I look/the way I talk/THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I BLINK WHEN I'M NERVOUS!

So all that being said, I PROMISE YOU, videos are coming. And in case you're interested, I have tagged this post with some of the categories of ideas I have for the future. I'm really looking forward to sharing this with you!

Until next time,
Liv xx

NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base // Beauty

Good Day!
Happy Friday!

In the spirit of the weekend and all it has to offer, I thought I would review a product you may or may not find useful in your weekend "look", the NARS Smudge-Proof Eyeshadow Base.

As far as its claim to be "smudge-proof", the product does not lie. I put this on under Urban Decay Naked palette eyeshadows, and about 14 hours later I was still having to scrub at my lids to get it off. Super potent!

However, this can be a good and a bad thing. The good news is that once you nail the perfect eyeshadow, it's not going anywhere. The bad news is that if you make a mistake or need to change your shadow part-way through the day, that shadow is still not going anywhere. If you have fairly oily lids, this may be a good option for you, since it might help counteract that slippy effect.

This is a good product, but I would say that if you don't really struggle with your shadow, a less potent formula like Urban Decay's Primer Potion might be a better option. Since I had a bit of a hard time putting eyeshadow on over this base, I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have. Perhaps with a bit of practice I can perfect it.

Until next time,
